The Royal Seoul Experience

9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
9:00 AM

Gyeongbokgung Palace 경복궁

Start your Seoul journey at Korea's grandest palace. Go early to beat the crowds and catch the Royal Guard Changing Ceremony at 10 AM and 2 PM daily (except Tuesdays).

📍 Gyeongbokgung Station (Line 3), Exit 5 🎫 ₩3,000 admission ⏱ ~1.5 hours
🎬 K-Drama Alert: Gyeongbokgung is a filming location for dozens of historical dramas including Mr. Sunshine, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, and The Red Sleeve.
10:45 AM

Bukchon Hanok Village 북촌 한옥마을

A 10-minute walk from the palace takes you to 600-year-old hanok (traditional house) alleyways. Gahoe-dong's winding lanes are the most photographed in Seoul.

📍 15-min walk from Gyeongbokgung / Anguk Station (Line 3) 🎫 Free ⏱ ~45 min
💡 Tip: Be quiet in the residential alleys — actual families live here. Signs remind you. The best photo spot is the view looking down Gahoe-dong slope with tiled rooftops stretching to the city skyline.
11:45 AM

Insadong 인사동

Korea's art and culture district. Browse Ssamziegil (a spiral open-air mall with craft shops and cafés), traditional tea houses, and souvenir stores that go beyond tourist trinkets.

📍 Anguk Station (Line 3), 5-min walk 🎫 Free (shopping optional) ⏱ ~1 hour + lunch
🍜 Lunch here: Try sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) or bibimbap at one of the traditional Korean restaurants lining the main street. Budget ₩10,000–₩15,000.
Day 1 · Afternoon

Street Food & Shopping

1:30 PM – 6:00 PM
1:30 PM

Cheonggyecheon Stream 청계천

A restored urban stream running through the heart of Seoul. Walk along the waterside path — it's cool even in summer and offers a peaceful break from the city above.

📍 Gwanghwamun area, 10-min walk from Insadong 🎫 Free ⏱ ~30 min
2:30 PM

Myeongdong 명동

Seoul's biggest tourist shopping street. This is where you go for K-beauty products (Innisfree, Cosrx, Etude House), street food, and everything trendy. Don't miss the famous egg toast stalls and hotteok.

📍 Myeongdong Station (Line 4), Exit 6 🎫 Free (shopping optional) ⏱ 2–3 hours
💡 K-Beauty tip: Duty-free refund available for purchases over ₩30,000. Stores like Olive Young have English staff and are better organized than individual brand stores.
Day 1 · Evening

City Lights & BBQ

6:00 PM – Late
6:00 PM

Namsan Tower (N Seoul Tower) 남산타워

Take the cable car up Namsan for the most iconic Seoul skyline view at sunset. The observation deck at 479m gives you 360° city views. Book in advance or expect queues in the evening.

📍 Cable car from Myeongdong (₩15,000 roundtrip) 🎫 Observation deck ₩21,000 ⏱ ~1.5 hours
🎬 Drama fans: The locks on the fence are a classic K-drama tradition — bring a lock and write your name on it.
8:00 PM

Dinner: Korean BBQ 삼겹살 or 갈비

End Day 1 with a proper Korean BBQ dinner. Samgyeopsal (grilled pork belly) around Mapo or Hongdae area is perfect — informal, affordable, and authentic.

💰 Cost: ₩15,000–₩25,000 per person for meat + sides + soju. Most BBQ places have photo menus or English menus.
💡 How to order: Tell the server "1인분" (il-in-bun) = 1 portion per person. Order samgyeopsal (pork) or galbi (beef ribs). Wrap with lettuce, kimchi, and garlic = the classic bite.
Day 2 · Morning

Hongdae & K-Pop Territory

10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
10:00 AM

Hongdae 홍대

Seoul's youth culture capital — indie music, street art, K-pop shops, and the best café-hopping in the city. The area around Hongik University is packed with specialty coffee, character merchandise stores, and K-pop fan cafés.

📍 Hongik University Station (Line 2 / Airport Railroad), Exit 9 🎫 Free ⏱ 1.5–2 hours
🎤 K-Pop: Check out What the Book and Music Korea for albums, photocards, and merch. Fan cafés for specific groups are in the back alleys — search "[group name] fan cafe Hongdae" before you go.
12:00 PM

HYBE Insight (if K-Pop is your thing)

The official BTS / Big Hit museum near Yongsan. Book tickets online weeks in advance — it's one of the most sought-after tickets in Seoul. Immersive exhibits about HYBE's artists, with never-before-seen content.

📍 Yongsan Station (Line 1 / Gyeongui-Jungang), 5-min walk 🎫 ₩22,000, advance booking required ⏱ 1.5–2 hours
💡 Alternative: If HYBE is sold out, SM Town at COEX (Day 2 afternoon) is a great substitute. Or visit Starfield Library and do the COEX Underground Mall first.
Day 2 · Afternoon

Han River & Gangnam

2:00 PM – Evening
2:00 PM

Han River Park 한강공원

Do what Seoul locals do on weekends: rent bikes, buy convenience store food (cup ramyeon, kimbap, fried chicken), and eat it on a picnic mat by the river. Yeouido and Banpo parks are the most popular spots.

📍 Yeouinaru Station (Line 5), Exit 2 → 10-min walk 🎫 Free (bike rental ₩3,000/hr) ⏱ 1–1.5 hours
🎬 Drama vibes: Han River at golden hour looks exactly like it does in every K-drama. The Banpo Bridge fountain show runs evenings at fixed times — check current schedule.
4:00 PM

COEX Mall & Starfield Library 스타필드 도서관

The Starfield Library inside COEX is one of Seoul's most Instagrammed spaces — a massive open library with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. SM Town COEX is in the same complex for K-pop shopping.

📍 Bongeunsa Station (Line 9) or Samseong Station (Line 2) 🎫 Free (shopping optional) ⏱ 1.5–2 hours
6:00 PM

Garosu-gil 가로수길

Gangnam's tree-lined boutique street — independent fashion stores, design cafés, and Seoul's version of SoHo. Walk the main street and its side alleys (세로수길) for the best atmosphere at dusk.

📍 Sinnonhyeon Station (Line 9) / Apgujeong Rodeo (Bundang Line) 🎫 Free ⏱ 1 hour
7:30 PM

Final Dinner: Gangnam or Itaewon

End your 48 hours in style. Gangnam has upscale Korean cuisine and trendy restaurants. Itaewon (15-min taxi) is Seoul's multicultural district with international food options for any preference.

🍽️ Options:
  • Korean: Hansik restaurants in Gangnam serve multi-course meals from ₩25,000
  • International: Itaewon's Hooker Hill area has everything from Thai to Mexican to halal
  • Budget: Pojangmacha (street tent bars) near Dongdaemun for late-night tteokbokki

💡 Practical Tips for This Itinerary

🚇

Use T-Money

Charge ₩30,000–₩50,000 on your T-Money card — covers all subway and bus rides for 2 days. Subway is ₩1,400–₩1,800 per ride.

📱

Download Naver Map

All stops in this itinerary are searchable on Naver Map in English. Google Maps' transit directions are unreliable in Korea.

👘

Rent a Hanbok

Rent a hanbok near Gyeongbokgung (₩10,000–₩20,000 for 2hrs) — palace entry is free in hanbok, and you'll get incredible photos.

Timing Matters

Gyeongbokgung is best before 10 AM. Hongdae comes alive in the afternoon and peaks in the evening. COEX is fine anytime.

💴

Budget Reference

Day 1: ~₩80,000–₩100,000 (palace + Namsan + BBQ dinner). Day 2: ~₩60,000–₩120,000 (HYBE/SM optional).

🌡️

Weather Layer

If it rains: Bukchon gets slippery — skip or do Insadong instead. COEX, HYBE Insight, and Lotte World are fully indoor alternatives.
